Freak the Geek episodes

  • The story of yester-time

    Period peices, so wild, right?

I'm riffing off what I learned in OSP history class and my own iffy memory of proper public schoolin'. Looking back at the alien world of Earth before today is pretty cool and fun.

  • The people we are in stories

Representation: so important! But could there be more to ask for now that we're finally at long last getting better characters that aren't just white guys. What is it that actually makes us connect with a character? Is it the colour palette of their appearance? Perhaps something in decision making? Let's find out.

Eventually we talk about cheerleader archetype referencing a video: https://youtu.be/U9SF3sexOGk

  • The Cape that started it all - Superman Pitch

Hollywood, either make Superman Public domain (don't let Disney tell you what to do) or hire us to work with Brad Bird and get this movie made. Or both. We're not your mother.

    Hi, I’m Jonathan.
    And I’m Ethan.
And this is an introductory bit introducing our podcast.
    Freak the Geek.
What even is this podcast about?
We’re going to talk about films and books and characters and tropes and genres that we like. Mainly it’s about stories and art. what inspired them, how they inspire us.
We’ll spotlight stories and projects that might be lesser-known, but we think are deserving. We’ll talk about the news for films and shows. Pitch movies that’ll probably never be made.
And we’ll talk about consuming these stories a little more thoughtfully.
We both think way too much about what we like, and here we are sharing a bit with you.
