On this episode of the Beyond the Helmet we are joined by 14 year NFL Vet, Hall of Fame Raider, Fred Biletnikoff.

Fred is hosting his Annual Golfing Tournament  (www.biletnikoff.org) to benefit the Biletnikoff Foundation and their mission on July 13th. Our conversation starts with this and his philanthropic work which has honored the life of his daughter, Tracey Biletnikoff. The world lost Tracey far too soon and Fred’s efforts have been built around helping young women similar to Tracey.

The legacy of Fred on the field is unparalleled. In his 14 years he gathered 589 receptions for 8,974 yards and 76 touchdowns, and had a then-league-record 10 straight seasons of 40 or more receptions. This in an era were the Raiders were one of the top teams in the AFL/NFL and passing was not as predominant as it is today.

The Biletnikoff award is given to the best wide receiver in college football. That pretty much says it all. It was honor to get to know one of the football’s legends.
