    Arbuckle was a prolific film star and auteur, as well as the most famous stars in cinema of his day, yet his career came to a crashing halt following a scandal that continued to taint his reputation to this day. Massa’s book aims to turn attention back to his movies, and he talks about it in this interview. He also takes the time to talk about The Silent Comedy Watch Party, an online series of silent comedies he has been hosting during much of the quarantine period with musician/historian Ben Model.

    This project gives the opportunity to 27 young film-lovers, selected through the cinemas of the Europa Cinemas Network, to represent each of the 27 European Countries at the Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica.

    Hosted in Venice for the duration of the Festival, these young viewers (all aged between 18 and 25) attend the Festival’s and the Lux Film Prize’s screenings, participate in debates and practical workshops. These meetings, held at Le Giornate degli Autori, involve directors, authors, film professionals and Members of the European Parliament.

    A conversation with influential animation filmmaker Tomm Moore, who is also the co-founder of Irish-based animation studio Cartoon Saloon. Here, we talk about his 2009 Oscar-nominated feature, The Secret of Kells, to mark its inclusion within the European Film Factory initiative, a brand new EU-supported online film literacy platform launched by the French Institute. Aside from talking about this film, Moore shares stories about the origins of his interest in animation, a short history of Cartoon Saloon and some of the things that influence the studio’s distinctive and eclectic style.

    The Secret of Kells: In the remote Irish woods, Cellach (Brendan Gleeson) prepares a fortress for an impending attack by a Viking war party. Unbeknown to Cellach, his young nephew Brendan (Evan McGuire) — who has no taste for battle — works secretly as an apprentice in the scriptorium of the local monastery, learning the ancient art of calligraphy. As the Vikings approach, revered illuminator Aidan (Mick Lally) arrives at the monastery and recruits Brendan to complete a series of dangerous, magical tasks.
