PODCAST| Chiara Nicoletti interviews Wim Wenders, director of the film Pope Francis – A Man of His Word.
After presenting it at the 71st Festival de Cannes as a special screening, director Wim Wenders landed in Rome to present to the Italian audience his Pope Francis – A Man of His Word, his latest documentary which is described as a personal journey with Pope Francis, rather than a biographical documentary. The filmmaker unveils some details about his first meeting with Pope Francis and how this encounter changed his view on many things and taught him not to be constantly afraid of everything starting from other people’s opinions to death.
Pope Francis – A Man of His Word is intended to be a personal journey with Pope Francis, rather than a biographical documentary about him. The pope’s ideas and his message are central to this documentary, which sets out to present his work of reform and his answers to today’s global questions. From his deep concern for the poor and wealth inequality, to his involvement in environmental issues and social justice, Pope Francis engages the audience face-to-face and calls for peace.

PODCAST| Angelo Acerbi interviews Victor Kossakovsky, director of the film Aquarela.
Victor Kossakovsky still cannot believe to have been able to make such a film: difficult shooting condition, exhausting technical problems and dangerous situations his young crew solved stubbornly every time, with the urgency of knowing the unicity of the film they were shooting. Specific shooting choices are explained by Kossakovsky here in this talk at the Venice Film Festival.
Aquarela takes audiences on a deeply cinematic journey through the transformative beauty and raw power of water. Filmed at 96 frames-persecond, the film is a visceral wake-up call that humans are no match for the sheer force and capricious will of Earth’s most precious element. From the precarious frozen waters of Russia’s Lake Baikal to Miami in the throes of Hurricane Irma to Venezuela’s mighty Angel Falls, water is Aquarela’s main character, with director Victor Kossakovsky capturing her many personalities in startling visual detail.

PODCAST| David Martos interviews Jeanne Boudier, actress of the film Deslembro.
We talked to actress Jeanne Boudier about playing her first role under the direction of Flávia Castro and telling a story about a Brazil that she didn’t know.
Deslembro: Joana, a teenager, feeds her soul with literature and rock. In 1979, when amnesty is granted in Brazil, she lives with her family in Paris. Overnight and against her will, Joana moves back to the country she barely remembers. In the early 1980s, in Rio de Janeiro, the city she was born in and where her father has forcedly disappeared, she recovers pieces of memory from a fragmented childhood. Not everything is real, not everything is imagination. And as she remembers, Joana is able to write her own story in the present tense.
