When Frederick Charles Krueger first got out of our dreams and into our cars in 1984's A Nightmare on Elm Street, he was unlike anything that mainstream horror audiences had witnessed before. Mutilated, ruthless, and gleefully sadistic, Freddy had that movie monster "it" factor. He was intangible. He was aggressive. He was probably just a figment of your imagination.
