In the first segment, Carl spoke with Damilola, founder of Injoya and Afro-Latino Nights, a Redding-based initiative celebrating diverse cultures through music and dance. As a passionate artist and community organizer, Damilola shares how these events foster cultural understanding and connection. The group regularly hosts free dance classes at the Food Truck Park, welcoming participants of all skill levels to experience the joy of Afro-Latino rhythms and traditions.
In the second hour, Carl welcomed two distinguished guests: Dave Cockrell, representing AMVETS, and Jack Munns, the current Mayor of Redding. Elected to the City Council in November 2022 for a four-year term, Mayor Munns is a Redding native with a diverse professional background. After moving to Reno in 1981 and building experience in the casino industry, he joined the Reno Police Department in 1989. Demonstrating his commitment to public service and education, Mayor Munns earned both a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and a master's degree in Social Work while serving as a police officer before returning to lead his hometown.
