  • Christ the Shepherd of His Sheep
Three specific designations are given to Christ as the Shepherd of His sheep. In Jn. 10-11 He's the Good Shepherd- In Heb. 13-20 He's the Great Shepherd- In 1Peter 5-4 He's the Chief Shepherd. In this communion study we consider the truths that each of these designations bring to our remembrance.

  • How's Your Hearing?
In chp. 9 we discovered a test that pertained to our spiritual sight. In chp. 10 we find another test that pertains to our spiritual hearing. How is your spiritual hearing- In this study we consider the things that help answer that question.

  • Taking the Spiritual Eye Exam
When the Lord Jesus performed this miracle of healing on the man born blind, it becomes very plain to see that the miracle served a spiritual purpose. The Pharisees ask in v. 40 whether or not Christ thought they were blind. Christ's answer makes it apparent that even though they thought they could see, they were, in fact blind. The very fact that there are those that are blind but think they see makes it very important for us all to ask the question of the Pharisees in v. 40 -Are we blind also-- In this study we look at the factors that enable us to answer such a question.

  • Learning to Fear the Lord
If fearing the Lord is clean and enduring -Psalm 19-9- and if it is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom -Prov. 9-10- then we do well to heed the Lord's own invitation to come to Him that He may teach us the fear of the Lord -Ps. 34-11-. In Malachi's day this fear was missing but Mal. 3-16 indicates that the prophet's ministry bore fruit and there could be found those that learned to fear the Lord. In this study we consider that if we're going to fear the Lord we must see that there's- 1. A Terrible Condition that has to be Overcome- 2. A Spiritual Attitude that Must be Cultivated. When both these things are done there will follow great blessings to be gained.

  • Magnifying the Lord
When Mary met her cousin Elizabeth their time of fellowship led to what is sometimes referred to as Mary's Magnificat. The very first words from Mary direct us as to what we should do when we think on Christ. -And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior.- As believers we too should magnify the Lord. In this study we consider a number of factors that enable us to magnify Lord. We magnify Him - 1. By Believing that He'll Do as He Said- 2. By Rejoicing in God Our Savior- 3. By Seeing the Big Picture.

  • Disciples Indeed
It's interesting and heart searching to note that those that are called -believers- in v. 31 are the same ones that take up stones to cast at Jesus in v. 59. This section of John 8 reveals, therefore, that there are those that have what may be described as a -natural- belief in Jesus and then there are those that Jesus describes as -disciples indeed- in other words they are truly disciples. In this study we consider some of the marks of those that are -disciples indeed.- 1. They continue in God's Word. 2. They do the works of Abraham. 3. They confess Christ to be the -I AM- of the Bible.

  • Compelling Reasons for Following Christ
When Christ announced that He was the Light of the world, He gave a very compelling reason for following Him. The Pharisees -true to form- rejected His claim and judged him to be false. In the discussion that followed Christ made a compelling case for why He ought to be followed. He ought to be followed---1. Because He is the Light of the World--2. Because His claims have been Substantiated--3. Because the Failure to do so leaves you in you sins

  • Neither do I Condemn Thee
What wonderful and gracious words are these when we hear them communicated to our own soul by the Spirit of God through the word of God - -Neither do I condemn thee.- In this communion study we consider the blessing of hearing such a declaration of Christ to our own souls.
