Remember when life was so much simpler? I do.
A few days ago we made one last trip to enjoy holiday festivities before needing to resort back to staying home. Not by choice...but necessary health reasons.
My check in with Critical Care/Pulmonary specialists didn't go as quite as one would have liked, but once again, I have learned acceptance. My specialists have run out of medication options as we have exhausted even the newest inhalation drugs approved by the FDA. Instead of trying one last drug. I was told we will need to increase the Prednisone up to max-per-day and continue emergency inhalation vials at home through my nebulizer machine. Once I reach 4 vials in a 24-hour period, I must then head to the hospital for respiratory therapy to take over which isn't a very pleasant experience, to say the least.
I have been quickly learning to adjust, once again, to this new norm of life. I have struggled with taking Prednisone, yet find myself going from a normal daily dose, to an uncomfortable new daily dosage. The side effects themselves prove a bit challenging to adapt with the inability to have a normal sleep schedule. Let's face it...Prednisone is the last go-to-drug that doesn't come without it's own unpleasant risks vs. benefits.
I cross my fingers and remain positive to stay on the benefits PLUS side of possible drug advantages using Prednisone, long term.
With new insurance also comes their own chain of commands/demands/protocols before surgery intervention/procedures. Once again, my specialists have to perform another imaging study before scheduling me with the hospital. At least they were able to quickly work me into the final phase of testing early next week. The week AFTER Christmas.
On a positive note, I can actually ENJOY the holidays with my little family right under my own roof!
With my compromised immune system, now being even further compromised due to maximizing use of steroids. It is with the best of intentions that I stay away from the general public and instead stay home. This until my treating specialists can get a better handle, understanding and surgical/procedure intervention on serious issues with my lungs.
As I have said many times before, life may not always seem fair. Life may continue handing you a full plate but remember one very important fact. "It's not what life hands you...But how you handle what life HANDS YOU."
I continue to work diligently at home on all my business ventures, even new ones that are set to sail globally in 2021. I am fortunate to have that unconditional love inside and outside of my home...fur kids who love me even during the not-so-good moments through out the day when their human momma needs to rest. My fighting spirit still burns brightly within my soul.
God isn't done with me just yet. I still have much to accomplish for him and for myself.
Life...is as good as YOU make it!
Remember that!!
In memory of my beloved fur babies
