The Lord impressed upon my heart an unusual message this week that is rarely preached any more these days. It is a full-length message on the subject of “Hell – What the Bible Really Says About It.” I don’t think I could have picked a less popular topic, but actually, I didn’t pick it…it picked me.
I. Is Hell a real physical place?
The Bible uses some form of the word “hell” over 50 times. And Jesus spoke of hell twice as often as He did heaven. I wonder if those folks who do not believe hell is a real place, do not believe that heaven is either. If the Bible teaches both, you cannot have one without the
other.
II. Where is Hell located?
Beneath the surface of the earth.
III. What is Hell like for those who go there?
1. Hell is a place of fire and smoke. (Matt. 13:40-42, Luke 16:24, Rev. 9:1-2)
2. Hell is a place of no foundation. (Rev, 9:1-2, Rev. 11, 17, 29 “bottomless pit)
3. Hell is a place of no rest. (Rev. 14:11)
4. Hell is a place of outer darkness. (Matthew 22:11-13)
5. Hell is a place of many tears. (Matthew 22:13)
6. Hell is a place of grinding of teeth. (Matthew 22:13)
7. Hell is a place of remembrance. (Luke 16:25)
8. Hell is a place of eternity. (Rev. 20:10, Rev. 14, Matt. 25:46)
IV. Who will end up in Hell and Why?
Revelation 20:15
Deuteronomy 32:35, “…their foot shall in due time…”
