A genuine christian is someone whose love of God is seen in an active desire to demonstrate love to everyone they meet - it means you will constantly fight the temptation to judge others.

You will accept that it is your responsibility to always be the one who responds first to the needs of others and take time to open your heart to others irrespective of the persons background, personality or position.

The real emphasis of James 1:19-27 is the danger of self-deception. It is one thing for the Christian to be deceived by Satan, but if you deceive yourself, this is something far more serious.

The mark of a mature person, is someone who faces themself honestly, who knows themselves, and admits they needs help.

By contrast, the immature person thinks they are rich, self-sufficient, and have no need of anything.

James says that this all comes down to your relationship with God and the word of God.

Perseverance in suffering - Be steadfast under trials, because your goal is to be more like Christ and more in love with God.

So if that means God testing, humbling and breaking -

you will prays ‘Lord, do whatever it takes, and help me to endure’.
