This week we're joined by Dan Fryer from Jubilee Church as we continue in our series in Matthew 1-4. Dan shows us that Jesus has overcome every sin and that we are able to share in his victory.

As we launch Brian and Sarah into church planting in Birmingham, we look again to the call that God has given us as His Church.

This week we had the joy of sending Brian and Sarah, along with their daughter Matilda, to be involved in church planting in Birmingham. Here they share some of the things that God has put on their heart along with some of the story that has brought them to this moment.

This morning Josh continues our series in Matthew, looking at the message of repentance preached by John the Baptist, and Jesus' surprising arrival.

In this story we see a foreshadowing of what Jesus will do. Foreigners and strangers find themselves discovering this King, whereas God's own people (who should have been the first to see him) miss him because of their preoccupation with other things.

In this telling the story we see Matthew careful to demonstrate by the humanity and the divine nature of Jesus. He is son of man and son of God and, as previously stated, he is the fulfillment of promise here in Jesus we see the final fulfillment the promise of God to be with his people and be Immanuel - God with us.

Throughout Jesus life he lives this very thing rubbing shoulders with broken people entering their homes living life with them and then finally as he gives that final Commission to his followers, he gives them also this promise that he will always be with them he will always be Immanuel to the very end of the age.

Matthew begins his gospel by showing us Jesus' genealogy (his family tree). Often we can come to passages like this in the Bible and want to rush past them, but we believe that "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." - 2Tim 3:16-17

This morning we unpack this introduction to the life of Jesus, and see how this passage teaches us more about who Jesus is.
