Episode 29 A Planning & Productivity Philosophy for Side-Hustlers with Josephine Brooks
I thought it was about time I shared with you a planing and productivity philosophy for side-hustlers. This episode is essentially a dive into 4 of my core vales around planning and productivity with some tips on where to get started in each of these areas.
I’m talking through the 4 planning and productivity pillars of building a business. From my experience of 8 years of side-hustling and from the conversations I have with my clients I know that without these 4 pillars in place, it’s going to be REALLY difficult to build your business.
Gemma is a podcaster, blogger and speaker on all things curing loneliness and finding new friends. I love what Gemma’s doing to open up the conversation on loneliness and making female friendships as an adult. This feels like something we don’t talk about enough and growing a business in particular can feel like quite a lonely endeavour so it felt like a good time to share an episode on the topic of business friendships.
There are bad days and there are tough times and it takes a lot to be a business owner and it’s great to make connections with other business owners that get it - Gemma Scopes

This episode I chat to The Overthinker’s Coach Gabrielle Treanor about how over thinking can prevent us from growing our businesses and how to tackle it. This chat came at a perfect time for me because I found, in my 2018 review that all of the challenges I’d had over the past 12 months came from mental struggles - dealing with self-doubt, the fear of pushing outside of my comfort zone and struggling with anxiety.
Gabrielle knows what it’s like to be an over thinker with it having held her back in the past. She shares lots of actionable ways to tackle your overthinking and foster more positive self talk in this episode.

As this episode is coming out around Christmas it seemed a great time to share a bit of family history with you. In this episode I’m chatting with my grandma, who is now 91 but she spent her early years growing up in Shanghai and later in a Japanese prisoner of war camp. She shares her story of growing up in Shanghai and being in the prisoner of war camp, which is a real insight into a totally different time.
This conversation also served as a healthy reminder for me of how grateful I am to not have had to grow up in a time that was affected by war or lack of food where I live. The other thing I feel grateful for, having listened to my Grandma’s story is my freedom. The freedom to make things happen like growing my business and carving out ways to live life on my own terms, which is something I’ll always be grateful for.

You may have come across Kate on instagram as Grace and Flora, that’s where I started following her and her business quite a few years ago now. I love her natural, rustic style and beautiful floral flat lays which incorporate her beautiful nature-inspired jewellery.
A while ago Kate blogged about her take on planning for creative business and she brought up some really interesting points around planning in tune with your own seasons and reflecting on your achievements so I had to get her on the podcast to talk a little more about this. You might not know that Kate is also a therapist so we also chatted about how she juggles her two businesses alongside being a mum and very importantly, a dog owner.
