Freeze Watch | Florida Weather 6 AM

Listen Later

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Florida Weather Podcast. It's Tuesday, February 24th.
Folks, North Florida is waking up under a freeze warning right now. South Florida? Dealing with dangerous rip currents and wildfire smoke. Same state, completely different mornings.
Up north, you're stepping out to 33 degrees at 7 A.M. Feels like 33 degrees with the wind. That freeze warning holds until 9 A.M. West of I-95. If you've got exposed pipes or tender plants, protect them now. The afternoon reward? A climb to 58 degrees by 4 P.M. Tonight, patchy frost sneaks back as lows settle near 38. But tomorrow.. 71 degrees. Winter's last stand ends fast.
Slide down to Orlando and Central Florida. Wind chills near 33 degrees this morning. A frost advisory kicks in tonight as temps drop to 35 by 5 A.M. Wednesday. Then the plot twist. Wednesday afternoon hits 72 degrees. That's a 37 degree swing in one day. By Thursday you're touching 80.
Tampa Bay, you're at 36 degrees at 7 A.M., feeling like 31. You'll only reach 60 by 3 P.M. Still ten degrees below normal. Wednesday brings 71 and south winds. Rip currents stay dangerous at area beaches through this evening. Stay out of the water.
Down in Miami, 47 degrees at 6 A.M. You'll rebound to 64 by 5 P.M. Under full sunshine. Watch for dense smoke from the Big Cypress wildfire reducing visibility along Alligator Alley through mid morning. High rip current risk runs through Wednesday evening from Palm Beach to Collier County.
Now the week ahead. Wednesday and Thursday are the headliners. Seventies statewide, eighties by Thursday. Feels like someone flipped a switch. Then Friday, a cold front rolls through with scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially north of I-4. A good chance of rain Friday night into Saturday. Half an inch to an inch possible. Sunday and Monday dry out with upper 70s and sunshine returning.

That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
