Le pronom Y

* Y is a pronoun. A pronoun replaces a noun, a word or a phrase.

* Y is used in three instances:

* when it means ‘there’

* when it is replacing a word or a phrase introduced by À or CHEZ

* with idiomatic expressions such as ‘il y a’

* Ils fêtent leurs diplômes au café.

* Ils y fêtent leurs diplômes.

* Vous pensez au travail que vous avez à faire.

* Vous y pensez.

* Elles sont dehors.

* Elles y sont.
