In our time, it is a crisis of a mega-illness times of crisis the enormity of which is hitherto unparalleled. In these times we can trust tht whether spirit or temporal there is no disease beyond the Balm, the Great Physician is here!

In this slice of FreshBread we continue to engage the psalmist as he wraps up the imagery of the Lord the Shepherd caring for his people sheep. In this verse, Goodness and Mercy present as divine helpers, not to fill the gap he cannot reach but as part of his eternal plan to perfect (fulfill/carry out) his purpose (word).

We often emphasize the image of the valley of the shadow of death and that the real threat is really fear more than and actual danger because it’s a shadow, but the valley is a vulnerable place to be, certainly for sheep and as much for people. It’s a low place, and a risky place...
