Welcome back to the Fresh Sounds Podcast! This week, Mark and Brendan are back with some quality music to share. This week's show kicks off with a scorcher of a new single from Sam Fender. Then, a trans-Atlantic collaboration between Amen Dunes and (yes) Sleaford Mods. After that, a bit of quirky pop from the English band Teleman. Next, a stellar mishmash from Nevermen, which feature  Tunde Adebimpe of TV on the Radio, Mike Patton of Faith No More, and Adam “Doseone” Drucker, of Anticon Records fame. We wrap the pod this week with our archive track: 1984's "I Will Dare," by the undyingly great Twin Cities band The Replacements.

Bonus tracks cover a number of genres, with new songs from Stone Giants teaming up with Amon Tobin; a dance tune pairing UK DJ Mark Hawkins with soulman Jamie Lidell; an Eastern indie track from St. Petersburg, Russia from a band named Shortparis; and a bit of light synthpop from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, followed by a banger from Catching Flies remixed by DJ BORING. For those like Brendan, who don't mind an occasional shot of noise, we wrap with a new single from the noiseniks who go as Pop. 1280.

Another week of strange weather, but Mark and Brendan are back with some red-hot music to share. This week's featured tracks include a song from Dean Blunt's new album, Black Metal 2, a moody new dance track from Park Hye Jin, a great bit of Aussie psych pop from Pond, and a frosty 1980s remix by the team of TVAM and Charlotte Spiral, remixed by DC Gore. And the archive track this week is opening song from the debut album from Manchester's The Stone Roses--a personal favorite of Mark's and Brendan's. 

Bonus tracks cover a number of genres, with new songs from Courtney Barnett, Connan Mockasin (and his father), the Nashville band Pile, a dance banger from DJ Seinfeld and Teira, some smoking live cut from Norway's modern jazz powerhouse Jaga Jazzist, and we wrap with the new single from Mykki Blanco, featuring Blood Orange's Dev Hynes.

This week, Mark and Brendan are spending a lot of time with music from London, but there are also few curveballs. (Mark didn't love Brendan's main picks, but hey, that's baseball!) The lineup features LCY, Sault, The Bug, a new cut from Dreadzone meant to urge Britain's Euro 2020 team on to victory, and, twenty years on, an archive track from Fennesz.

The bonus tracks this week are a more usual mix with Future Islands teaming up with The Egyptian Lover(!) and Bassbin Twins, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, an Impey remix, SG Lewis remixing a Bee Gee's classic, and Daði Freyr , an Icelandic Eurovision alum whose tune has more than 87 million streams(!), as of this writing.

This week, Mark and Brendan play bits of new singles from England's audiobooks (Yes, that is a band name) plus a fab new club track from Iceland's GusGus (yes, the "Ladyshave" band, if you recall 1999.) Scotland's Koreless is our next track, also on an electronic vibe, followed by a great new tune from the London guitar band Wolf Alice, and their much lauded new record Blue Weekend.  Then Mark digs deep for an archive track from the 1980s Postcard Records band Josef K, with "Sorry For Laughing." (This one has a fun bonus, as Brendan first heard that song as a cover version, on Propaganda's 1985 LP A Secret Wish., which is a perfect '80s record according to him.) (Produced by Trevor Horn!)

Next, an impressive single from Alaska's Ya Tseen teaming up with Portugal. The Man. Then some masterly new modern funk from Manchester, England's A Certain Ratio. Our archive gem this week comes from Tame Impala's fine debut album InnerSpeaker, which recently turned 10 years old. 

We start with some new fresh UK bass music from DJ Counselling with Allie Donelly. Then off to a comeback single from Norway's always suave Kings of Convenience. Then, over to southeastern Tennessee, for a great rendition of an old John Prine song by Sturgill Simpson. Burial is back with two cuts on a split single with Blackdown. We had to feature one! And then, a dancehall reggae favorite from 1983, with a one-of-a-kind title: “Zungguzungguguzungguzeng.” That's right! Yellowman is this week's archive pick. 

This week we start on France’s Basque coast by way of Paris, and France’s hottest new band: La Femme. Next, to Amherst, Massachusetts where we get a hot new track from the venerable Dinosaur Jr.

Then we touch down in Oslo, and a solid global indie song from Orions Belte. Following that, off to L.A. for some funkdafied experimental house music from Dâm-Funk.

For the archive pick, we spin back to Beirut of the 1970’s and Rogér Fakhr. This is a true undiscovered gem, that’s getting a fresh new release. Rock on hipsters of Lebanon!
