What does it mean to be wise? Is it the possession of facts about the world? Only Jesus can show us.

A plague. A Church in need of reform. Dioceses without bishops for decades. An assassination attempt. No wonder St. Charles Borromeo was described by a biographer as “an austere, dedicated, humorless and uncompromising personality.” But with so much uncertainty in our world today, he could be the perfect saint. And the readings remind us that the chaos of our lives becomes ordered when our faith is the priority.

Br. Greg takes us through salvation history, and our own Dominican history, to explore just how God is calling us into His Wonderful Life and how He has always called us, His People.  

"If he cries out to me, I will hear him; for I am compassionate."

Jesus encapsulates in these two Commandments today all the wisdom of the world. To love God and to love our neighbor are acts of self-gift, of Agape-style love. That love is what we see on the Cross. And it is this gift of love is what propels us and pushes us forward and into our vocation. 

We have to make the decision to love with Christ's own Crucified Love and to take the next step.

How often when looking for our vocation do we look for cause and effect? We expect God to show us some great sign and from that great sign we are supposed to simply know our calling in life. Cause and effect. But God offers to us many good things and it is given to us to choose how we shall live our our holiness. 

How are we going to live out our vocation?

As Christians we have put on Christ through our Baptism and our participation in the Church, but we do not always live up this calling and the garment that is our Christ-like calling becomes disheveled. How can we change and reorient ourselves towards Christ?
