One of the ways Jesus’ ministry surprised the people of Israel, was that He didn’t come as a conquering king, but rather as a peaceful teacher. The Israelites were looking for someone to free them from Roman influence and re-establish an independent kingdom, but when Jesus didn’t do that, they rejected Him.
