Perhaps the key turning point for TIFF and the Oscars. Since this won the People's Choice award in 2008, TIFF winners have gone on to dominate Oscar nominations year after year... if only this was a better movie...

A truly surprising TIFF winner, but just more evidence that the Toronto audience are the best in the business. A second Cronenberg/Mortensen collaboration sees them push the envelope a little further, but also continue their confident storytelling as they make you wait for the real fireworks.

We are finally doing a non-English language movie and I couldn't be happier that it was Memories of Murder (I pick the movies so it was always going to have a good chance of being the first). Kate drops the bombshell that this might be one of the first two or three non-English movies she has ever watched though, so suffice to say she is starting with the best.

But before we get into the movie, we talk about how jampacked July was with new releases. Did we like Barbie is the big question?
