A few years ago, Son Of Sesh relocated from Pōneke to Amsterdam. He has upped the ante since then, picking up residencies on Echobox Radio and at the Textures club-night, and having his dubs aired on Subtle Radio and Balamii. Last week, racquetclub released his debut Surface EP. We celebrate with a mix of his own productions interspersed with future soundsystem classics.

DJ Voices is the moniker of Kristin Malossi. She's a resident and the booker at Nowadays, a co-founder of Working Women, and hosts Nothing In Moderation on The Lot Radio and the audio extension of her party series Blue Enough on Noods Radio. Her style is inimitable, wide-reaching while keeping sights focused on the dancefloor. Over the past decade Skymning has independently released a steady stream of dense textural electronic music. Gradually evolving from pockets of ambience created in hometown Te Whanganui-a-Tara to sharper dance-oriented breakbeats informed by years digging though record stores in London, Skymning returns to Aotearoa to unveil his largest body of work - RELENTLESS.



Merging heavy bass, warbling tapes and immersive field recordings, RELENTLESS is Skymning’s most dynamic and sonically ambitious release to date. The 13 tracks - created from condensing years worth of recording material and mixed down during Tāmaki Makaurau’s longest lockdown so far - revolve around themes of grief, loss and pain. RELENTLESS will be released through Bankrupt Records on 13 November 2021.

By the time this mix comes out two singles will have been released from the album. Both are available on the skymning bandcamp page (skymning.bandcamp.com) and the album will be released through the Bankrupt Records bandcamp (bankruptworldwide.bandcamp.com). Skymning has set up a website - skymning.online - which is set to redirect to his latest releases.

The mix is mostly vinyl and contains dub plates and unreleased collaborations.

The second hour of the broadcast comes from Kassie and Emelyne. Kassie works with movement and sound, a dancer pursuing music who loves to DJ with her huge inspo and best gal Emelyne. Emelyne needs little introduction, a heavyweight in the Naarm/Melbourne scene and co-host of the Blend on PBS. Kassie and Emelyne are also part of $R$ BZN$$, noted for blessing Skylab with their cult 420 series and genre bending b2b sessions around town. The mix uses experimental dancehall, outside noize, worldly club rhythms and expressive bass music to tap into a hypnotically charged space.

The first 30 minutes of the broadcast features Moondog. Moondog spent the best part of a decade immersing herself in the thriving electronic music scene in Melbourne. This year, she managed to peel herself away and is now living in Ōtepoti. Her mix delves through sounds on the edges of bass, dub and hip-hop with a bit of 90’s flavour. In the second 30 minutes we hear from Sook, also from Aotearoa but based in Naarm/Melbourne. Sook leads us through a mix of bass heavy dubstep. She loves the wubs and hopes you do too.

Between 2007 and 2020, Mario Cotto spent virtually every Saturday night in the basement studios of KCRW in Los Angeles, broadcasting his Psychedelic Service to listeners worldwide. The show was an eclectic mix of punchy dance music, psychedelic rock, 70s AM gold, 80s synth, eccentric world music and ambient freakouts. It was a reign that sadly ended with the first lockdown. Tonight, we welcome him back to the air. Emanuel got a schooling in sound-system culture while living in London for two years. On his return home to Pōneke, he founded Teethclippers via a residency at Club 121. Now, with the release of the Don't Bite Your Tongue compilation, the project has grown into a fully-fledged label as well. That compilation features 14 tracks by key NZ producers like Eden Burns, KÉDU CARLÖ, Azure, and Peach Milk, with all proceeds to the Mental Health Foundation. Alongside his efforts with Teethclippers, Emanuel holds down a monthly residency on Peckham's Subtle Radio.

"This mix is very very heavy. I have been desperately wanting to get back in the club and play but we’ve had to postpone 2 Teethclippers nights and most likely more so this mix was a way for me to connect with that feeling of playing out to the Teethclippers community. I went in to this mix with the idea I was playing a peak time Teethclippers set in a heaving club. So many of my mixes over lockdown have been pretty held back because of the headspace and situation I’ve been in. This was a way to unleash some of those naughty tunes that have been getting stockpiled over lockdown. Safe to say you may need to put on the exercise gear, get that protein shake ready for afterwards and turn this one up loud – expect nasty breaks, thumping bass, a bit of 140 and of course a healthy dose of garage."

Cal.Ske is a Tāmaki Makaurau-based DJ who draws inspiration from all corners of the music world. He learned to mix on a pair of his friend's CDJ 850s 4 years ago and never looked back. This year he started the project Glass Half Full as a platform for a wide variety of local artists & DJs to play shows, and post mixes + original music. Ahead of his debut TC performance, Cal weaves his way through some of his favourite sounds - from house and the underground sounds of UK garage and dubstep to the uptempo sounds of footwork and juke from Chicago.
