In this week’s episode, we get political with Season 1, Episode 9: Julie in a Homeless Shelter? Julie tries to understand the plight of the homeless in New York City with her new friend, Darlene. Some of the roommates attend political rallies, which causes Norman to both be inspired to paint a mural in the loft and get a speeding ticket en route to D.C. Other topics include crappy years (2017 for Rebecca, 2020 for Krystie), the 1990-1991 recession, stupid sportsball, and Michael Moore’s films. The rent is too damn high!

Today, we’re chatting about Season 1, Episode 8: Becky Falls Into Troubled Love. Topics include experiences with guys at bars, theorizing why only the girls of the loft went to Jamaica (instead of sending all of the roommates), Midwestern conflict avoidance, high school awkwardness, and whether or not the love connection Becky makes is indeed troubled. Rebecca makes Krystie laugh so hard she cries when describing her incredibly detailed vote for Wack fashion, we express our desire to be Norman’s friend in real life, and good luck getting Petey Pablo’s song “Raise Up” out of your head!

This week, we discuss Season 1, Episode 7: Heather Wants to Touch His Booty! Kevin returns to the loft after the prank, Julie and Heather have fun chatting up Larry Johnson at the Hornets game, and the episode takes a hard right turn at the end with an explosive argument between Kevin and Becky. (Spoiler: this does not endear Kevin to Rebecca.) We also talk about the Dream Team, Julie’s star-spangled sweater, Krystie’s trip to Iceland, and Zack Morris-style cell phones. We also question why only the female roommates are going on a trip to Jamaica--was there an ulterior motive from production to stir up drama, or was it just a budget thing? Your guess is as good as ours!

This week, we discuss Season 1, Episode 6: Kevin...Come Back! We like the friendship between Julie and Kevin, but the unnecessary patriarchal values he places on her...not so much. Also, Julie goes on an awkward date, the roommates go grocery shopping, and we discover that Norman is a Trekkie! Other topics include Dolly Parton’s awesomeness, vacations, old technology, and Eric’s “yes, and”-ing in the prank gone awry. Our stance on responsibility is clear: If you’re going to offer to cook dinner, you better actually cook it!

We finally get a resolution to the tension-filled cliffhanger when we cover Season 1, Episode 5: Kevin and Eric Mend Their Relationship this week!
