Slide One
Last big snow dump, my son and I were getting dressed to go sledding. Completely unexpectedly, my husband asked where his ski jacket was so he could come along. This was a huge surprise and blessing because he hates winter, cold and snow. Our family spent the afternoon climbing up, and sliding down hills all while the snow fell and blew. I was on such a high I couldn't stop smiling all day. He's the best husband and dad ever! I know I was a better wife that evening because of the amazing time we had together that afternoon.
Slide Two
Last week, I came home after a particularly stressful day. Things had been going on at work and I was still trying to process them as I was driving home.
I walked in the door at home and my wife asked me how my day had been, to which I replied the obligatory “fine.”
And then she turned back to what I was doing, and just ignored me. It was awesome. I went into the living room, turned on the TV and just got lost in it for about 20 mins. She didn’t ask me anything. There was no to do list. Nothing. Just some time to get my head out of work.
After that 20 mins of TV it was like the stress of my day just receded and I could think again.
So I got up, asked her how her day was, and she responded like normal.
I absolutely love that my wife gives me that time when I get home to just unwind for a few minuets before she asks me anything. She just lets me unwind after my day and then I can be present with her. I love her for that.
