Do you realize that every time you unlock your phone, you’re stepping onto a battlefield.

Whether we realize it or not, we’re constantly being shaped by the voices, ideas, and images competing for our attention. This week we’re talking about the unseen battle of influence and why it’s so important for Christians to recognize it.

Our Big Fat Word of the Week isn’t INFLUENCER but it is the Greek word peismonē, a helpful word that helps us understand the power of persuasion surrounding us every day.

In Do You Understand What You’re Reading? we’re continuing through Ephesians 6… putting on the armor of God and learning how to stand firm in the midst of a world that is always trying to shape our thinking.

Then, in our main conversation, we ask some challenging questions…
What is influencing you?
Who or what is shaping your loves, desires, and decisions?
And just as importantly, how are you influencing the people around you for good or for bad?

Join us as we learn how to recognize the battle, guard our hearts, and become faithful influences who point others to Christ rather than the world.

In this Episode Cyndi and Jen return after a long hiatus to discuss how we want to motivate you to GET IN THERE! 

We recap what we've been up to and then explore some Greek and an old English Work "Ingather" for the Big Fat Word of the Week. 

For "Do you understand what you're reading" Jen gets us discussing the Sacred Secret from Ephesians 3 and then we spend some time discussing the beauty and wisdom of God in giving us the church and all He has to do through us in it!

In our 50th episode, WE'RE 50!!! Jen and Cyndi spend some time talking about encouragement. 

You might be surprised to learn all that goes into Encouragement. 

Our Big Fat Word of the Week is Encouragement because we need a full orbed view of this important duty we have to one another and this grace God has made provision for to get us to the end. 

In Do You Understand What You're Reading Jen fleshes out some of the encouragement that Paul gives to the Thessalonians. 

In our discussion we talk through the ways we get encouragement from others and how seeing others believe and live out the promises of God can encourage us.

Then we get into a discussion on misunderstandings around sin, it's euphemisms, it's lies and the general bad it brings into the world. 

We also learn that Cyndi doesn't know the meaning of Zero Sum Game ;P
