In Week 3 of our Friends Series, we talked about one of the most influential relationships in our lives: our peers. Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Matthew 5:13–16), which means we aren’t meant to blend into culture we’re meant to stand out in it. But the way we stand out isn’t through perfection, it’s through identity. When our identity is rooted in Christ, our words, attitudes, and actions begin to reflect His light everywhere we go, at school, online, and in our friendships.
This message challenges students to stop living in negativity and defeat when Jesus has already given us victory. Through Scripture, humor, and real life examples, we unpack what it looks like to walk in gratitude over grumbling, faith over fear, and light over darkness. From the Samaritan woman to the call to be a lighthouse in a dark world, this sermon reminds us that we are called to influence, not isolate, and that our generation needs believers who truly reflect Jesus to their peers.
