For the third episode in a row, we travel back to the year of 2017 in film and discuss the film that propelled the Safdie brothers to mainstream relevance with Good Time starring Robert Pattinson. Pattinson is fresh off the new film Mickey 17 so this seemed like the perfect time to go back and discuss one of his prior films. On this episode, Alex is joined by an OG Friend with Cinefits as Jake returns after his first appearance over 4 years ago where they discussed Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen. The two discuss the anxiety inducing mechanics the Safdie’s utilize in their movies, Robert Pattinson’s post-Twilight legacy, and one of the ways Jake loves to be pretentious.

Jurassic Park, Inglorious Basterds, The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, Memories of Murder, The Seventh Seal, The Third Man.

Then, I again let you decide, picking three films you have heard of or directors whose names are familiar. A few are listed below:

Goodfellas, Vertigo, Rear Window, The Godfather, Taxi Driver, Seven Samurai, Rashomon, Memento, Fargo

Finally, I discuss the question: How do you want to watch movies? While it sounds simple, there are a lot of factors to consider. Streaming vs Torrenting vs Physical. Quality vs Convenience. Subtitles vs No Subtitles. Night vs Day. Focused or Laid Back. Just find out what you prefer!

3. 2001: A Space Odyssey - Do you like the added scale and the existential subject matter?

4. Parasite - Easy entry into Foreign Language films. Try to be conscious of themese and symbolism. Do you mind watching a movie with subtitles or in a different language?

5. Citizen Kane - Do you see why this is one of the greatest films of all time? How do you do with an older, black and white film? Watch a bonus feature or read an article about it to see why it was so special for its time.
