Dying to self: a godly habit that we have to practice and be sanctified in until we literally die, because it’s really really hard. But dying to self is what it takes to make friends and to keep friends - if you want those friendships to be built on the awesome love of Christ, that is. And you do. 

John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

When this is the day you are longing for more/better friends, consider what friendship actuall is. Friendship expresses the love of God through us, to another child of God. If we could just get it through our thick skulls that friendship always requires sacrifice, we would be well on our way to enjoying friendships in the way Christ exemplified for us - loving unconditionally, sacrificially, and at all times.
