I think COMMUNITY is a pillar of the passion economy business model for content creators. Mighty Networks is built on the principle that communities are the best way for all of us to realize our fullest potential. My guest today is Gina Bianchini, CEO and founder of Mighty Networks. Her goal is to build a “creator middle class” through the power of community. Earlier this year, Mighty Networks raised $50 million in a Series B funding round and in 2020, annual customer growth climbed 200%. I think their growth shows how the passion economy approach is expanding in this space. Clearly, we have a lot to talk about! 🤩

One of the pillars of the passion economy business model is offering a transformational product or service that people are willing to pay a premium price for. It’s one of the biggest differentiators from the creator economy business model and it requires niching down. Marie Poulin has a YouTube channel about systems design with a focus on a tool called Notion. Not only was Marie able to niche down, but she created a one-of-a-kind solution that provides incredible value to her target audience while allowing her to achieve her personal mission of helping business owners grow. Marie is truly a rockstar example of a YouTube creator applying the passion economy business model!

Mike Mena is a PhD Candidate from New York studying race and language. In 2017, he started uploading book guides for grad students on YouTube. Fast forward to today, Mike’s career has completely evolved as a result of his YouTube channel, even though he only has 3.7k subscribers (as of us recording this!). From receiving grants to being hired as a keynote speaker, Mike is a perfect example of how YouTube can help you make a living doing what you love.
