He was known for his powerful revolutionary poems and scathing invectives against Arab dictators, and lived in exile in many countries, including Syria, Egypt, Lebanon and Eritrea. His poetry includes many Arab and international revolutionary symbols. He used his work as a way to incite public emotions against repressive regimes, political corruption and injustice.

Today’s episode is about the life of Khaled Al-Husseini. Al-Husseini is an Afghan-American novelist, UNHCR goodwill ambassador, and former physician. He wrote famous novels such as the The Kite Runner and 1,000 Splendid Suns, which is one of my favorite books. I highly recommend it, the story is beautiful and heartbreakingt. Al-Husseini’s success from his first novel The Kite Runner is what allowed him to quit medicine and pursue writing full-time
