Waking Up From Breaking Up

From Darkness to Clarity: Embracing Sobriety for Mental Wellness with Mic Deane (Sober Babes Vancouver)

Listen Later

In this week's Waking Up from Breaking Up (WUBU) episode we interview Mic Deane, a co-founder of the community Sober Babes Vancouver.

Mic shares her journey from when she decided to stop drinking, focus on her mental health, and embrace sobriety. She tells us how her life has shifted and the positive effects of choosing sobriety.

Alcohol can have a significant impact on mental health. Many people turn to alcohol as a coping mechanism to numb emotional pain, stress, or anxiety. However, what initially seems like a solution often exacerbates the underlying issues. Alcohol is a depressant and can intensify symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Sobriety allowed Mic to reclaim control over her life. It brought her clarity, and increased emotional stability. Removing alcohol as a coping mechanism allowed her to confront and address underlying issues, leading to personal growth and a stronger sense of self.
