The credit system isn't just flawed - it's a rigged game in which participation isn't optional. In my opinion, the way credit works in America is completely backwards. Think about it. When someone seeks out a line of credit, most likely it's because they don't have the means to pay for something outright. They get hit with higher interest rates, late or missed payment fees, drop in credit score, or denial. While the upper class, who typically have the means for most purchases, have endless credit and low rates.
Banks and corporations profit outrageously by keeping people in cycles of debt, using credit scores as a tool for control rather than an accurate measure of financial responsibility. With errors rampant, discrimination built-in, and interest rates stacked against you, this system isn't designed to help. It's designed for profit. Not for your profit of course, the big wigs at the top of the business ladder have no problem profiting off the less fortunate.
