Simply worded and easy to understand...
I got this book as a read aloud and reinforcement for a life cycle of a butterfly lesson I am doing with my boys. The book is simply put and simply worded with the basic concepts of the life cycle of a butterfly. The pictures are detailed real life photos of each stage of the life cycle. At the end of the book there is a glossary and definitions of key vocabulary words used in the book; caterpillar, hatch, molting, pupa.
I appreciate that the text is simple and to the point, and I like the detailed pictures. However I would have liked to see the vocabulary words- transition, metamorphosis, and chrysalis in the book since most lesson plans I found on the subject included those vocabulary words.
Otherwise, this book is a good reinforcement for my lesson and my boys are interested in the pictures. If you are looking for a book about the life cycle of a butterfly then this may not have the needed vocabulary words that go with your lesson. If you just want a simply put book about the life cycle of a butterfly then this would work.
Bringing Metamorphosis to Life
This is a great book to introduce youngsters to the life cycle of a butterfly. Important vocabulary is emphasized and highlighted. Young learners will be captivated with the photographs that are an integral part of the reading experience. This book also offers you the chance to go over such things as table of contents and index if you like. My preschooler loves this book. We purchased other books in this series based upon reading this one!
It would also be a great addition to a PK-2 classroom library.
