In this episode, Amy talks to Eric Newman. founder of Iceland With Kids, a company that helps families plan memorable Iceland vacations. Eric graduated from Kenyon College where he majored in Math. He went on to earn a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins in Mathematical Sciences. He initially thought he would continue his education with a Ph.D. and become a college professor. However, he switched gears and decided to get a job in finance.
His finance career continued for twenty years. Most recently, he was a partner and portfolio manager at a boutique asset management company. Once he knew his fund would be winding down, he decided he needed figure out what to do next. His interest in travel took him to Iceland and the product of his travels was a detailed travel guidebook called Iceland With Kids.
Eric is a Certified Iceland Specialist, and offers itinerary planning services for families visiting Iceland, as well as custom private tours. He also has written a children’s book called Lundi the Lost Puffin: The Child Heroes of Iceland.
Eric shares with listeners what inspired him to write a travel book and what’s it’s like to be midprocess in figuring out his Act 2.
