This year, the library chose Andy Weir’s The Martian, a smart and funny novel which was turned into a blockbuster, Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe-winning film starring Matt Damon. For part of this, the Electronic Composition class at the University of Kansas will re-score and redub The Evil Brain from Outer Space, a Japanese grade-z flick cobbled together from portions of the Starman short film series. We spoke with the class's instructor, Kip Haaheim, Associate Professor of Music Theory & Music Composition, about the process of scoring and composition.
