  • Don't Give Satan a Crack

We begin with 1 John 5:4–5 and the message that those born of God overcome the world through faith in Jesus Christ. We discuss how believers are in the world but are not of it, and how Jesus prayed that his followers would be kept from evil while remaining in the world as witnesses.

We consider the world’s temptations and Satan’s efforts to draw believers away from godly living. We discuss how seemingly small compromises can lead to greater sin, using Eve’s temptation and David’s adultery, deception, and the death of Uriah as examples. The message also warns against the influence of sinful environments and relationships, while emphasizing that Christians can speak with unbelievers without letting them lead them into wrongdoing.

We look at biblical instructions to be separate from ungodly practices and to avoid giving sin an opening to spread. The message compares a small sin to leaven that spreads through dough, and urges us not to dismiss wrongdoing as harmless or make excuses for it.

We conclude with Romans 13:13–14, calling believers to put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the desires of the flesh. We discuss living openly as Christians, setting boundaries when others encourage sinful behavior, and showing through our conduct that we are different from the world. The message’s central warning is to give Satan no “crack” to widen into a foothold.

  • A Soft Answer over Wrath

In this week’s episode, we shared brother Rick Chapman’s lesson, “A Soft Answer Over Wrath,” from Proverbs 15:1–15. Rick walked us through Solomon’s repeated contrasts between wisdom and foolishness, showing how our words can either calm anger, nourish others, and reflect the work of the Holy Spirit, or stir conflict, cause hurt, and reveal a heart that is not listening to God. He reminded us that words carry lasting weight, that we are accountable for what we say, and that the tone, intent, and spirit behind our speech matter just as much as the words themselves.

As we followed the passage, we were challenged to listen well, welcome correction, pray continually, and choose speech that builds people up rather than tears them down. Rick tied those truths to the hope of the gospel, pointing us to the love of God in John 3:16 and the grace of salvation in Ephesians 2:8–9. The central takeaway was simple and searching: with the thousands of words we use each day, will we use them to wound or to heal?

  • Wisdom and Money

In this week’s episode, we share brother Rick Chapman’s lesson, “Wisdom and Money,” from Proverbs 22:1–16. Rick challenges us to think beyond wealth and to consider the greater value of a good name, a faithful testimony, and a life that reflects Christ. He reminds us that riches, recognition, and success in this world will not matter when we stand before the Lord, but our choices, our witness, and our obedience to Jesus will. This lesson presses us to ask whether we are living for temporary gain or eternal reward.

Rick also walks through Proverbs 22 to call us toward humility, discernment, generosity, holiness, and intentional Christian parenting. He contrasts the wisdom of following God with the danger of drifting with the world, and he urges us to train the next generation to love the Lord while there is still time. Altogether, this message is a direct and heartfelt reminder that true wisdom is seen in how we order our lives, what we value most, and whether we choose to serve Christ above everything else.

  • Wisdom over Strength

This week on From Providence, we're sharing brother Rick Chapman’s lesson, "Wisdom Over Strength," from Ecclesiastes 9:11–18. In this message, we reflect on the limits of human ability, the uncertainty of life under the sun, and the truth that strength, skill, and earthly wisdom are never enough on their own. Rick contrasts the world’s way of measuring success with God’s wisdom, reminding us that time and chance touch everyone, and that our only sure foundation is the Lord’s guidance.

Along the way, this lesson points us to several biblical examples—Gideon, Moses, Job, Adam and Eve, and above all Jesus Christ—to show that God’s wisdom is better than human power, louder voices, or weapons of war. The challenge is clear: don’t forget the Lord when the battle eases, don’t let the world pull your focus away from eternity, and don’t let Satan win the daily battles when Christ has already secured the ultimate victory.
