Our guests today are two brothers, Shawn and Devin Young. They are the co-founders of Classcraft, which is an award-winning engagement management system used by five million students and educators worldwide to gamify their classroom experience.
Classcraft is a platform that empowers teachers to address social-emotional issues, and to manage, sustain, and develop engagement in school by making it feel like a game. It’s not a game though, it's a platform where teachers can give points to students for completed work, for showing empathy, for helping each other as they go through quest lines and adventures. All of this was inspired by their experiences as students and as working adults.

Alex Assal is the CEO and Co-founder of Whoomies, a flat-sharing community in France with the goal of giving people better access to housing and creating better living situations. Alex graduated fairly recently from the IÉSEG Business School in Paris, and very soon after founded Whoomies.
Based on his experience of trying to find roommates in New York and Singapore, and the similar experiences of his co-founder, Lauren, they saw a gap in the market to streamline the experience. Instead of just offering the possibility to find apartments on a real estate platform, Whoomies offers the possibility to find people from all around the world who match your interests. You take a survey to give your interests, and the app will match you up with roommates who are the right fit for you.

She's also partner at I2I Ventures, Invest2Innovate's early stage investment fund for Pakistan, and the country's first female-founded institutional fund. She lived in Bangladesh for elementary school and Pakistan for middle and high school. A third culture kid can feel like they belong everywhere and also belong nowhere, so their identities can be hard to pin down. This plays into how their identity develops as well.
