Daniel Pena's life was spiraling out of control. Abandoned by his father and raised by a mother battling addiction, he grew up surrounded by chaos, domestic violence, and constant instability. By age 12, he was already drinking and smoking marijuana, desperately trying to numb the pain of rejection and abandonment that consumed him.
The next decade brought a destructive cycle of felony charges, prison sentences, and crippling drug addiction. At his lowest point, Daniel found himself homeless, weighing just 100 pounds, facing 15 years in prison, and contemplating suicide. "I accepted that I was going to die on the streets or rot in prison," he recalls, his voice still carrying the weight of those dark times.
But something extraordinary happened. Through three pivotal divine encounters – at a youth group at 14, in solitary confinement at 21, and in his father's backyard while preparing to inject drugs – God persistently pursued Daniel. The final surrender came when he dropped the needle, fell to his knees, and begged for help. This marked the beginning of an extraordinary transformation through a year-long discipleship program that taught him to work, pray, and build a genuine relationship with God.
Today, 11 years sober, Daniel is a devoted husband, father of four, and founder of Men of Purpose, a ministry helping men discover their God-given identity. His message resonates with brutal honesty and profound hope: "When you don't know who you are, you'll latch onto anything – work, addiction, relationships – searching for identity. But you are a child of God, and He has a purpose for your life."
Have you been searching for meaning in all the wrong places? Are you ready to discover your true identity? Listen as Daniel shares how God can transform anyone's life – no matter how far they've fallen. Subscribe now and join a community finding strength through faith and authentic connection.
