Pastor Anthony Stander recounts his training, selection, and service as a member of the elite 1 Parachute Battalion in the South African Defence Force (SADF) during the early 80s, at the height of the South African ‘bush war’ in Southwest Africa and Angola.
The 'Parabats', as they were known, have been described as 'experts at foot work and small-war tactics.'
Anthony describes not only the day-to-day counterinsurgency operations of tracking and destroying SWAPO guerrillas, but also his experiences during the large SADF operations against Communist forces in Angola, such as Operation Carnation, Operation Protea and Operation Daisy.
“Who is in charge of the clattering train?
The axles creak and the couplings strain,
And the pace is hot and the points are near,
And sleep hath deadened the driver’s ear,
And the signals flash through the night in vain.
For death is in charge of the clattering train.” (Edwin James Milliken)
TODAY it’s all about GENDERS or should I say AGENDAS.
When I was in my early 20’s – I had just turned my back on God and I remember saying this quite a lot because I thought it would be amusing if it happened but also because I was curious if you could influence people enough to let this happen.
I would ask this question very often; in most conversations I had & then theorize as to what the world would look like in different scenarios.
What was the question you might be thinking…
IF THE ROLES WERE REVERSED AND THE MAJORITY OF THE POPULATION WAS CRAZY, AS IN CLINICALLY PSYCHOTIC, WOULD THE NORMAL PEOPLE BE LOCKED AWAY IN INSTITUTIONS AND BE CALLED CRAZY AND WOULD THE CRAZY PEOPLE BE WALKING AROUND FREE BEING CALLED NORMAL?
Learning from the Rwandan Holocaust of 30 years ago.
30 years ago, on 6 April 1994, one of the most dreadful campaigns of mass murder was unleashed upon the Tutsi people of Rwanda. In just 100 days, more people had been slaughtered with machetes and clubs than have died from atomic weapons in all of history.
