DESTIN — The pilot and passenger who survived a plane crash Sunday morning were identified as a father and son from Kansas. Jason Dougherty, 47, of Garden City, Kansas and Caleb Dougherty, 22, of Salina were aboard a Beech Bonanza aircraft when it went down short of the Destin Executive Airport runway, according to a press release from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. The two, along with their Labrador retriever, were flying into the Destin area for vacation.

Oversupply concerns around the world are making a major impact on crude oil, and in turn could mean the lowest gas prices locally since 2016.Just two weeks ago, crude oil was being traded for $53 per barrel - Sunday night that price had dropped to $33 per barrel. The drop in price is a result of concerns regarding outbreaks of COVID-19, also known as coronavirus, across the world.Those concerns have led to less demand for jet fuel and gasoline, causing the price of crude oil to plummet.

Two people are dead following a house fire in Panama City early Monday morning.According to a press release from the Panama City Fire Department, firefighters responded to a structure fire on Clay Avenue with possible victims just after 1 a.m. on Monday.

Upon arrival, the crew found a single-story, wood framed house with heavy fire coming from the roof area of approximately 50% of the home. According to the release, firefighters entered the bedroom areas of the residence and they were found to be clear. Crews were unable to enter a portion of the home until the fire was knocked down and deemed safe to enter, due to the extent of the fire and how long it had burning prior to their arrival.
