SPRINGFIELD — A Springfield man has been arrested after he allegedly hit a pregnant woman with a 2x4 board and sexually battered her.According to a press release, the Springfield Police Department arrested Matthew Thicklin, 28 and charged him with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and sexual battery.The press release states that police were called to Ascension Sacred Heart Bay hospital, in reference to a sexual battery on Tuesday.Investigators then spoke with the victim, who told them Thicklin battered her with a 2x4 board and had sexually battered her.

SHALIMAR — A 36-year-old Shalimar man was arrested after he allegedly stole several pieces of jewelry from his mother to pawn for cash. According to the victim, Chase O’Neal Shipp stole a three-strand gold bracelet and a diamond necklace. Several other pieces are also missing. Shipp then pawned the jewelry at a Fort Walton Beach pawn shop receiving $600 over a period of two months, according to the arrest report.During a welfare check Tuesday afternoon, the suspect ran from deputies into nearby woods, according to a press release from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

St. Louis Blues defenseman Jay Bouwmeester collapsed on the bench in what was a scary scene during Tuesday night's game against the Anaheim Ducks. Bouwmeester was removed from the rink on a stretcher and the game was postponed with the scored tied 1-1 in the first period.

DESTIN—A 45-year-old man, who was charged with kidnapping and sexual assault, will have a plea hearing on March 3 and face trial on April 27. On January 12, Garfield Gordon, originally from Jamaica, drove himself and a woman to the Destin Waffle House while the woman was passed out, according to an arrest report from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. She woke up with Gordon on top of her, the report said. She reported he removed her underwear along with his own. She told Gordon, “I do not want this,” the arrest report said.

PANAMA CITY BEACH – One person is dead following a two car accident in Panama City Beach early Tuesday morning.Just before 6 a.m., 29-year old Christopher T. Thomas of Panama City was killed when the 1997 Toyota Camry he was driving was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by Reginal Sidney, 38, of Humble, Texas.
