The headlines in Monroe, Michigan, during February 1920 included the Prohibition-era raid of a home where raisin mash, whisky and a still were found; a teacher shortage across Michigan and the latest "cure" for influenza. According to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened at approximately 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of E. 26th St. and Bartow Ave.The school bus was traveling westbound on E 26th Street, while a grey 2003 GMC Sierra driven by William Kerry Pollard, 54, of Panama City, was traveling eastbound on E 26th Street.Pollard fell asleep behind the wheel and caused the front left portion of the Sierra to sideswipe the left side portion of the school bus, the press release states. At the time, the school bus, driven by James Cox, 80, of Panama City, had four passengers; one adult and three children.
