    In a wide-ranging conversation with the Journal Wednesday, Infante-Green said she began visiting the district's 41 schools Tuesday and will continue to do so.
    "I'm already disappointed with what we found yesterday," she said. "It's not up to my standards. It's not as clean we expected and the physical condition is worse than what people have reported. The conversations are going to be very difficult. Once again, we haven't taken over the district yet. We're doing what we can from the outside."

  • LISTEN: Salvage Santa bike theft suspect arrested
    BAY COUNTY - A suspect in the Salvage Santa bike theft case has been arrested.
    Christopher Baten Fernandes, 40, of Youngstown, is charged with burglary of a dwelling, grand theft and possession of a short-barreled gun, according to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office. Boy’s bicycles and sports equipment were reported stolen from a storage unit in July by Bay District Schools Chief of Safety and Security Mike Jones, also known as Salvage Santa for giving out the items around Christmas.
