Pain cannot be avoided, so when you try to fight it, it becomes more painful. Happiness should be pursued, but happiness is elusive. The return of pain - due to life, to you, to others - is inevitable. It is a part of life. If you face pain, it will evaporate (not instantaneously, but over time). If you avoid pain, it will return to bite you. Why is this? Because change is the supreme surrender. Without this type of deep DEEP surrender, without letting go of your self-help prescription, change will remain difficult to achieve - and an equal level of pain will return continually. Willingness and openness bring re-birth. Resistance and control of emotions (a dead-end exercise) bring more pain. Getting results in your efforts to change necessitates direction from Love and Good-Orderly-Direction. Stay on the course, remember to help others, etc. Stay out of your own way. Become free.
