Today on From the Pasture with Hired Hand, Molly sits down with Ray Webb. Ray and his wife live in the beautiful Texas Hill Country just south of Marble Falls at their ranch, The Webb Family Farm. Molly and Ray talk about how he fell in love with Texas Longhorns long before he owned any and he provides insight to breeders who are just getting started. He shares the importance of introducing yourself to fellow breeders, a good photo of your animal and the value of asking questions. His herd is special to him for many reasons, but what you may find fascinating is he shares that his cows have a preference on the music they listen to when Ray is out in the field.  (spoiler: apparently Webb cows have a flair for 70s disco every now and then!)

Join Molly for a lively chat with Matt King from Singing Hill Ranch! A self-proclaimed superfan of Hired Hand (and no, we didn't bribe him!), Matt shares the incredible journey of how a vision on a Wisconsin road blossomed into a thriving ranch in Dripping Springs, Texas—all in just five months!

Discover how his 5-year-old daughter has mastered the art of negotiation, what he would change if he could hit the reset button, and why having mentors is an absolute game changer.

Matt's mantra? Dive into the ranching world with joy, not just equipment! Embrace the fun, forge unforgettable relationships, and create lasting memories with your loved ones. He perfectly sums up his ranching philosophy as "No Hat, All Cattle"—because you don't always need a cowboy hat when you have a passion for longhorns!

Today, Molly talks with one of Hired Hand Software's first customers, Bill and Suzanne Torkildsen. Their ranch, Bull Creek Longhorns is located in Fayetteville, Texas and has been raising and selling Registered Texas Longhorns since 2004. The Torkildsens were recognized as Breeder of the Year with the TLBAA in 2019 & again in 2023 at The Legends Sale. In addition to those accolades, they were honored with the Bob Loomis 2024 Milestone - Breed Improvement Award.  If you look at the bloodlines Bull Creek focuses on, one of the cows they feel is worthy to keep threaded through their herd is Tari Graves FM49. There are several attributes that she brings to the table most all of the time. Listen today to hear what these attributes are and much, much more!

Today Molly visits with Ben Krump from Krump Longhorns located in the southeast corner of North Dakota. He has been around longhorns since he was 3 years old, when his parents established a herd in 2003. In 2019, he bought his first registered cow, “DC Cowboy’s Leweze,” from Fred and Cheryl Bryant. That is when the addiction started. At Krump Longhorns, the goal is to breed a “total package” longhorn, focusing on conformation, color, horn, longevity, and disposition.
