Today we celebrate the baptism of Jesus and remember the power of the Spirit's claim on all the lives of those who are baptized. At the Jordan River, Jesus is named and claimed by God, the heavens open, and the Holy Spirit descends like a dove. In worship, we are reminded that through the waters of baptism we too are named beloved children of God and called into lives of faith and service.
