The Athletic’s Adam Crafton joins The Front Three to explain why Liverpool and Manchester United’s “Project Big Picture” proposal was ultimately shot down by the Premier League. He also tells us how and why the power of the “Big Six” – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham continues to grow and why the influence of American Owners like the Glazers, Stan Kroenke, and the Fenway Sports Group could change the landscape of British football. This “Americanisation” of the Premier League could lead to some aspects of the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and MLS being introduced to football. This is because all three owners have links to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rapids, St. Louis Rams and the Boston Red Sox. The guys also discuss the impact that the Global Pandemic could have on the lower leagues and grassroots football and the backlash to the Premier League’s decision to charge fans £14.95 to watch games via pay-per-view (PPV).

Football London’s Chief Arsenal Writer Chris Wheatley joins the boys to look back at the Gunners 1-0 defeat at the Etihad to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Premier League. The guys look at Mikel Arteta’s tactic of playing Brazilian forward Willian upfront as a “False Nine” and Aubameyang on the left-wing. We also ask Chris how the North Londoners can solve their “Creativity Gap”, the excellent performances of Bukayo Saka, how the Gooners missed out on Lyon’s French playmaker Houssem Aouar during the Summer transfer window, and what former Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey can bring to the team. Finally, the guys discuss all things Ozil and whether or not the German midfielder has a future at the club.

The northern football correspondent for The Times Paul Joyce joins the Front Three to preview this weekend's big Merseyside clash between Liverpool and Everton at Goodison Park. Paul tells us how former Real Madrid, AC Milan, Juventus, PSG, Chelsea, Napoli and Bayern Munich Coach Carlo Ancelotti has instilled a new mindset within the club. He also gives us the lowdown on Dominic Calvert-Lewin and explains why Brazilian winger Richarlison turned down the chance to play for La Liga giants FC Barcelona. And of course we look back on Liverpool's 7-2 loss against Aston Villa and ask whether this is the first true test of the Premier League champions and their manager Jurgen Klopp and if they can overcome the defense woes that has seen them concede ten goals against Leeds United and Aston Villa.

In the final part of our "Deep Dive" on AS Roma, we ask former Liverpool Echo and ESPN football journalist John Solano whether Rome's favourite bridesmaid will make it back into the UEFA Champions League after showing great form following the Italian league's resumption of play after the Covid-19 lockdown - finishing 5th in Serie A. We wonder why Eden Dzeko was allowed to leave Manchester City, and how former Fulham defender Chris Smalling has done following his loan move from Manchester United. And can wonderkid Nicolo Zaniolo emulate Roma great Francesco Totti? Plus, Coach Dan asks why big players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Andrea Pirlo have historically moved between Italy's big clubs like Juventus, Inter Milan, Roma, AC Milan and Napoli.

Italian football expert John Solano joins the boys this week for Part One of their Deep Dive on AS Roma. Despite a relatively sub-par 90s, Roma returned to form in the early 2000s by winning the Scudetto on the last day of the 2000-2001 season by beating Parma 3-1. However, since then they have finished runners up in Serie A nine times - losing out to Juventus, AC Milan and Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan as well as crashing out in the late stages of the Champions League to Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Arsenal. We look at how Fabio Capello's 3-5-2 formation was so attractive, the influence of Francesco Totti, their failed ownership, and contrast their fortunes with their bitter city rivals Lazio who have also failed to win the title since 2000 when they won it under former England football team coach Sven-Goran Eriksson.
