On this shorter episode, we will cover injuries related with high cliff diving events, such as the Red Bull Cliff Diving Series. The physics of the jump and landing is what matters here. Male athletes jump from a 27-28 meters high tower and the female athletes from a 21 meters high tower. They are evaluated by judges like in other lower diving events (like the Olympics). They can go up to 85km/h and it is when they touch the water and decelerate that severe injuries can happen. It was a true pleasure covering the event as a physician. It was also a true pleasure working with many experienced rescue specialists. Hope you enjoy.

Hi everyone!
After almost 2 years of pause, I am back!
Let's talk about Swimming Induced Pulmonary Edema.
A very specific disease you will see if you cover as a medic a triathlon or any other open water swimming event in the cold.
We will review its cause, presentation and management.
Hope this satisfies you, please send me comments and questions.
Today, we talk about cold stuff with a guest, Jørgen Melau. He is a PhD in physiology and paramedic from Norway. We discuss Swimming Induced Pulmonary Edema, the Norseman Extreme Triathlon and cold-water immersion.
We will now switch gear and go from the cold subject of avalanches, to the hotness of volcanoes and their hazards. Many of you most likely heard there is a volcanic eruption in Iceland (again) and it is a good time to review the topic of volcano hazards. Enjoy the show.
I was pleased to be joined by Stefán Jökull, avalanche wizard in Iceland. He talked about predictions and avalanches in Iceland and really quick intro to snow pits.
Today we talk about what to do once the avalanche victim enters your department.
This episode is a remake of the presentation on the Management of the Avalanche victim that I did to the Garðabær Search and Rescue team in the Iceland. It focuses on the management by rescue teams and the principles behind it.
