May 20, 2018 The Battle for your Heart - King Herod, John the Baptist, and the Spirit of Jezebel.

Many of us often read the story of King Herod in our personal studdies. We've seen the movie, the portrayals, and the opinons of what this man must have been like. However, we typically overlook the clear indicators within the scriptures that tell us of the personal struggle between light and darkness.

His life of Sin was not without a full knowledge of the truth. John was a preacher of righteousness, and he told Herod the way out. Not only did Herod know the truth, he even tried to protect it and honored that is was right to some degree. In the end though, he allowsed the world and sin to win the battle for his heart.

But why? How could this man know the truth and yet give over to sin? Too many of us within the church ignore the deeper battles happening in our own hearts. We feel that because we read our bibles, go to a congregation, or know how to to say the prayers that we are 'good to go'. Is that really all there is? Or is there a deeper battle for your soul once your saved?

Herod had a Jezabel sprit involved in his life, along with a lack of stewarding his own heart well in light of eternity and the truth. If that's how the enemy took down a king? Are we not kings and priests in Jesus? What can we learn about all of this from Herod and how do we win the battle for our hearts?
