  • Ingrid and the Ministers Interview | Frumess

Ingrid and the Ministers are a candid psychedelic rock ’n’ roll band transmitting from the underground of New Zealand’s capital, achieving a rare balance of vigorous raw emotion and humble greatness, piloting the band down pathways of expansive creative energy. A craftful songwriter, her potent and melodic vocals are a vehicle for lyrical brilliance. Born and raised in Grenoble, France, Ingrid moved to Pōneke/ Wellington as a teenager and has lived there since, starting the band in 2018. Joining her on lead and rhythm guitar is James Morgan, then Scott Maynard on bass and Kim Andrews on drums.

Boofhead is the latest offering from this NZ based outfit, and acts as a purging and two fingers up to the injustice in the world dominated by a patriarchal society. Confrontation runs through Boofhead’s veins and tackles the doomed reality of a relationship with an older man- something which is a microcosm of a bigger systematic power imbalance.

In true DIY fashion, the first album from Ingrid and the Ministers in 2020 ‘Kill the Sights’ was recorded in the ex-guitar player’s garage, with the wavering single Pepper & Sand garnering praise from Youtuber Matt Orchard’s Crime and Society series when it featured on an episode. The album captures their signature live sound, and at times fittingly atonal melodies with showers of hard-hitting choruses.

With their new album compressing a world of innovative expression and UK tour dates to follow, Ingrid and the Ministers’ fresh creative freedom bursts when performing on stage, leaving a lasting impression with audiences who get to experience it.

The Flash is a 2023 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. Produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Studios, Double Dream, and the Disco Factory, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures,[5] it is the 13th installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film is directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay by Christina Hodson and stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen / The Flash alongside Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue, and Michael Keaton. In the film, Barry travels back in time to prevent his mother's death, which brings unintended consequences. Development of a film featuring the Flash began in the late 1980s, with multiple writers and directors attached to the project through 2014. The film was then redeveloped as a part of the DCEU, with Miller cast as the title character. Multiple directors were attached to the film over the following years, with Seth Grahame-Smith, Rick Famuyiwa, and the duo of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein all departing the project over creative differences. Muschietti and Hodson joined the film in July 2019, and pre-production began in January 2020. The film is influenced by the comic book storyline Flashpoint, featuring multiple DC Comics characters, including Ben Affleck and Keaton reprising their respective versions of Batman. Principal photography took place from April to October 2021 at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden and on location around the United Kingdom. The Flash premiered at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on June 12, 2023, and was released in the United States on June 16. The film received praise for its plot, action sequences, humor, and performances (particularly of Miller and Keaton), but criticism for the quality of its visual effects and third act.

Genreblast boys Nathan D. Ludwig and his partner Chad Farmer join me in reveling over Hulk Hogan’s early 90s movie career staple - Suburban Commando. Directed by Burt Kennedy, produced by Howard Gottfried, and written by Frank Cappello. The film stars Hulk Hogan, Christopher Lloyd, Shelley Duvall, and Larry Miller. Additionally, a young Elisabeth Moss briefly appears in her film debut. The film was originally titled Urban Commando, and was intended for Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger. When these two opted to make Twins (1988), the script was bought by New Line Cinema as the follow-up to another Hulk Hogan film, No Holds Barred.

In 1987, Christ dropped out of college and moved to New Jersey to join Glenn Danzig's band Samhain, which became the band Danzig later that same year. Upon his arrival in New Jersey, Christ would share an apartment with Samhain drummer London May, for whom Christ had performed his first band audition. Christ auditioned well, but it wasn't until leaving countless guitar solos on Glenn Danzig's answering machine that he was finally invited to join the band. When May left the band, Christ shared an apartment with new drummer Chuck Biscuits, where they came up with Christ's original stage name "John Von Christ", before it was shortened to avoid it clashing with bassist Eerie Von. Christ played guitar with Danzig from 1987 to July 1995, appearing on the albums Danzig, Lucifuge, How the Gods Kill and 4, and also the Thrall-Demonsweatlive EP. In 1990, Christ recorded guitar for the Samhain album Final Descent. Christ officially left Danzig on July 5, 1995, citing a breakdown in communication within the band as the reason behind his departure. During his time with Danzig, Christ's main guitar was a 1983 BC Rich Bich strung with custom D'Aquisto strings and fit with PRS pickups. The guitar was customized with the Danzig skull symbol, and is currently on display at the Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando.

In 1997, Christ was part of the short lived band Juice 13, which also included Randy Castillo, former drummer for Ozzy Osbourne. Christ's guitar work has been used by TV stations ABC and Nine Network.[During his time with Nine Network, he provided backing guitar for performances by artists including Tom Jones and Lou Rawls. In 1999, Christ released his debut solo album Flesh Caffeine. In 2004, Christ was involved in a serious crash and suffered injuries to his fretting hand. As a result of his injuries, he underwent lengthy rehabilitation. On November 27, 2009, Christ returned to the live stage for the first time in ten years with a solo performance in Essex, Maryland.
