Starting in 1977, Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only spawned a punk rock B-movie invasion from mythical Lodi, New Jersey. During the formative years, Ken Caiafa, brother of Jerry and Misfits guitarist Doyle, grew into the crucial role of frequent band photographer. When the Misfits mutated into a new form during the 1990s, music photo legend Frank White picked up the trail of the band's sequel. Between them - the bro and the pro - White and Caiafa present the authoritative visual history of three decades of violent seduction by punk's inspired teenagers from Mars.

The Return of the Living Dead is a 1985 American comedy horror film written and directed by Dan O'Bannon, and starring Clu Gulager, James Karen, Thom Matthews and Don Calfa. The film tells the story of how a warehouse owner, accompanied by his two employees, mortician friend, and a group of teenage punks, deal with the accidental release of a horde of unkillable, brain-hungry zombies onto an unsuspecting town over the Fourth of July weekend.  The film, described as a "mordant punk comedy", is known for introducing the popular concept of zombies eating specifically brains, as opposed to eating any form of human flesh, like previous zombie iterations. It is also known as the first film to ever show zombies running, as well as zombies being able to speak.[6] The film is also quite different from virtually all other cinematic depictions of the living dead, in that the zombies portrayed in the film cannot be killed by a standard "head shot".  The film is also notable for its soundtrack, which features several Los Angeles based deathrock and punk rock bands of the era. The film was a critical success and performed moderately well at the box office. Its enduring popularity has spawned four sequels and turned it into a cult classic.

The Batman is a 2022 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Batman. Produced by DC Films, 6th & Idaho, and Dylan Clark Productions, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is a reboot of the Batman film franchise. The film was directed by Matt Reeves, who wrote the screenplay with Peter Craig. It stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman alongside Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. The film sees Batman, who has been fighting crime in Gotham City for two years, uncover corruption while pursuing the Riddler (Dano), a serial killer who targets Gotham's elite.  Development began after Ben Affleck was cast as Batman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) in 2013. Affleck signed on to direct, produce, co-write, and star in The Batman, but had reservations about the project and dropped out. Reeves took over and reworked the story, removing the DCEU connections. He sought to explore Batman's detective side more than previous films, drawing inspiration from 1970s films and comics such as "Year One" (1987), The Long Halloween (1996–97), and Ego (2000). Pattinson was cast in May 2019, with further casting in late 2019. Principal photography took place in the UK and Chicago between January 2020 and March 2021.  The Batman premiered at Lincoln Center in New York on March 1, 2022, and was theatrically released on March 4. It was delayed twice from an initial June 2021 release date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film has grossed over $269 million against a $185–200 million budget, making it the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2022, and received praise for the performances, cinematography, Reeves' direction, visual style, action sequences, and story, though some criticized its runtime. It is intended to launch a Batman shared universe, with two sequels planned and two spin-off television series in development for HBO Max.
