October 01, 2023Heavenly Salt Pt. 1 Jesus corrects his disciples for trying to stop someone outside their group from ministering in Jesus' name. Jesus teaches that God's kingdom is bigger than the disciples realize - it includes all who follow him in faith, even if they are not part of the inner circle. In this sermon, we discuss signs of true faith and being born again, such as professing faith in Christ, bearing spiritual fruit like love and obedience, and gathering regularly with other believers. To illustrate that God's family includes diverse people from every nation and culture, we can listen to these stories of worshipping with Burmese, Iraqi, and Russian believers. We’re encouraged to pray for and loving the whole global church in unity, not just those who look and worship like us, as we fulfill Jesus' mission....more49minPlay
September 24, 2023The Greatest As Jesus was traveling with his disciples to Capernaum, he again told them that he would suffer, be killed, and rise again. But the disciples still could not understand or accept this. On their way, they started arguing about which of them was the greatest. However, Jesus taught them that to be great in God's kingdom requires humility and serving others, not status or prestige. To illustrate, Jesus took a child in his arms, saying whoever welcomes and cares for those in need, as one would a child, welcomes and receives Jesus himself. Jesus perfectly modeled servanthood and humility by giving his life on the cross. If we want to be great in God's eyes, we should follow Jesus' example by pursuing God's will, serving others, caring for the marginalized and forgotten, and sharing the gospel. True greatness comes not through pursuing worldly status, but through humility, service to others, caring for the least of these, and obedience to God's will....more43minPlay
September 17, 2023All Things are Possible In Mark 9, Jesus heals a demon-possessed boy after his disciples had tried and failed to drive out the demon. Jesus rebukes the unbelieving crowd and reminds them that all things are possible for the one who has faith. Even though our faith is often weak, Jesus calls us to ask him for more faith and he will provide it. The disciples tried to heal the boy on their own but were unsuccessful. Jesus tells them that they need prayer to strengthen their faith in order to be used by God for miracles. A key message is that no one is outside of God's grace and mercy to forgive and heal our brokenness, if we turn to Jesus in faith. We often try to fix our problems ourselves rather than bringing them to Christ. But God wants to use even children to do amazing things when they place their faith in him, because nothing is impossible for the one who believes. Our role is to point people to experience Jesus, not ourselves. The passage challenges us to grow in faith through prayer so that God can work powerfully in and through us....more38minPlay
September 10, 2023The Transfiguration Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up to a high mountain where he is transfigured before them, his appearance changing and his clothes becoming radiantly white. Moses and Elijah appear and speak with Jesus, affirming that he is the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies about the coming Messiah. God's voice declares from a cloud, "This is my beloved Son, listen to him." Even after witnessing this, the disciples still struggle to grasp that Jesus must first suffer and die before rising again. Jesus has to correct their misunderstanding about the order of events, telling them he must suffer before Elijah comes at the end of days.Let us challenge ourselves to take a step of faith, fully committing to follow Jesus even when it requires sacrifice or is difficult. We must be willing to "jump off the bridge" and trust him completely, counting everything as loss next to knowing Christ. As believers, we are in a spiritual battle and must stand firm as obedient disciples. The key message is to listen to Jesus, believe in his sacrifice, and follow him wherever he leads. We must stand strong in this battle and continue fighting faithfully for our Lord and Savior....more48minPlay
September 03, 2023Burn the Ships To authentically follow Jesus requires completely leaving our old lives behind and wholeheartedly embracing his calling, even when it leads to hardship and persecution. Just as Cortez burned his ships to fully commit his men to conquering the Aztecs, we must remove any possibility of turning back to our old ways if we are to be true disciples. This means denying ourselves daily, sacrificing our own desires, taking up our crosses, and living entirely for Christ. It means proclaiming his name boldly, obeying his Word consistently, and refusing to be ashamed of him, even when others ridicule and oppress us for our faith. God's grace covers us when we stumble, but the overall course of a believer's life should demonstrate increasing devotion to Jesus through the Spirit's work. Examining our lives for any "ships" we still need to burn is imperative if we are to follow the Lord without reservation. His way, and his way alone, brings purpose, freedom, and eternal reward....more47minPlay
August 27, 2023Spiritual Transformation Jesus heals a blind man in stages and then asks his disciples who people believe he is. Jesus heals the man in two steps to symbolize the disciples' spiritual blindness - they only partially understand who Jesus is at this point. When Jesus asks them who people say he is, they respond that some think he is John the Baptist, Elijah, or one of the prophets. But when Jesus asks the disciples directly who they believe he is, Peter declares "You are the Christ," showing he understands Jesus is the prophesied Messiah. The sermon challenges us to consider who we say Jesus is - do we truly know him as God incarnate, the Savior of the world? If we want to grow spiritually, we need to continually seek Jesus, asking him for wisdom and taking steps of faith as he promises that those who ask will receive. Overall, the sermon encourages people to commit or re-commit to following Jesus as Lord and Savior, calling for spiritual transformation through faith in Christ....more51minPlay
August 06, 2023Unheeded Signs Jesus miraculously fed 4000 people with just a few loaves of bread and fish, showing his power and authority. This happened in a Gentile region, demonstrating Jesus came to save all people. The disciples failed to grasp the meaning of this miracle, just as they did not understand the previous feeding of the 5000. Their hearts were hardened to the truth about Jesus. The Pharisees demanded more signs from Jesus, but he refused since they were not sincerely seeking truth and their hearts were hardened. Signs alone don't lead to belief. We must have faith in Jesus, not reliant on signs. God has already provided his word, Christ's resurrection, and the testimony of believers as evidence. If we harden our hearts and demand signs, we lack true faith like the Pharisees. We must fully surrender and trust Jesus. As believers, we should keep sharing the gospel, not try to convert others ourselves. Our role is to witness to Christ's love and saving power....more47minPlay
